How we count
The figure is the first-year monthly price divided by the physical cores of the whole server, never threads. The floor is 8 cores, below which a server is a small box at any price. 212 servers clear it, from $7.25/core against a typical $16.65/core; the leader's CPU was launched in 2024, and a core from a decade ago does less work than one from last year. A price is what a month costs over the first year: the monthly price plus a twelfth of the setup fee, converted to dollars and excluding tax. A provider that states no setup fee is counted at its monthly price, and its row says so.
3 of these 10 servers come from a provider that states no setup fee. A fee it charges would move them down the list.
Frequently asked
- What is the cheapest of the dedicated servers with 8 cores or more right now?
- OVHcloud SCALE-a9 on a 2x EPYC 9965 (2024), $7.25/core, which is $2,784 a month for the whole server ($2,570 setup). Read on 31 Oct 2026.
- Which provider shows up most in this ranking?
- OVHcloud holds 6 of the top 10 places. A provider counts once per CPU, at its cheapest server on it.
- What does the price cover?
- A whole physical server at its base configuration, for a month, with a twelfth of the setup fee added so a fee is counted over the first year. More memory, other disks and a faster port are upgrades on the provider's own page. Prices are converted to dollars and exclude tax.
- How is this ranked, and how current is it?
- Prices are read every 3 days from 6 providers' own price lists and APIs, and this list recomputes with them. A price read for the first time, or held while a second reading checks it, says so on its row and gives first place to a price that is confirmed or a week old whenever the list has one.
